Egypt is a large country with a young, highly educated population of more than 100 million, of which 70% are 40 years old and younger. A large network of well-reputed universities and institutes produces over 600 thousand graduates per year, with 40% in STEM disciplines.
GSA Egypt
The GSA chapter in Egypt was set up in 2022 and now counts over 30 members, both local companies and local offices of international players.
GSA Egypt objective is to further transform, strengthen and expand the semiconductor industry and ecosystem in Egypt, encourage further collaboration and opportunities for the Egyptian members, and ensure that the global industry is aware of the innovation and talent concentrated in Egypt.
It’s run in collaboration with the Egyptian Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), which is the executive IT arm of the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the Egyptian Information Telecommunications Electronics and Software Alliance (EITESAL), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) representing the entire Egyptian ICT industry.
The phenomenally successful inaugural GSA Egypt Summit in Cairo was held on January 19th, 2023. It admitted 200 carefully selected attendees, from 15 different countries and representing 100 companies. About half of the attendees were from outside of Egypt, as a testimony of Egypt attractiveness as a primary destination for leading tech companies establishing global development centers, and for local champions expanding internationally.
